NITTE University

NITTE University, officially NITTE (Deemed to be University), is an institute of higher education located in Derlakatte, Mangalore, India. It is formed under the Trust of NIITE, a trust sponsored by Nitte Education Trust which has established 31 institutions spread in three campuses at Nitte, Mangalore and Bangalore.

The Government of India conferred the status of Deemed-to-be University in June 2008.

The institution has been accredited with ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC).

NITTE University

The A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences (established in 1985) was the first constituent college of Nitte University.

Today, it has five constituent colleges, the other four being K.S. Hegde Medical Academy (established in 1999), N.G.S.M. Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (established in 1983), Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences (established in 1992), and Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (established in 1997).

K.S. Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) became a constituent of Nitte University in 2009.

Recently it has two more constitute colleges namely Nitte Institute of Communication (2012) and Nitte Institute of Architecture (2015).

Facilities

Hostel

The hostels are on campus and in close proximity to the college and hospital. The hostel fee for the first year which includes the caution deposit, mess advance and the room rent all collected at the time of admission. The room rent for the subsequent academic years hence collected at the beginning of each year along with college fee. Caution deposit thus refunded only at the end of the course. Establishment charges and other utilities like electricity and water will be collected.

Mess

The mess advance collected monthly . The vegetarian mess  run on a cost sharing basis. Based on the suggestions of the boarders, the mess committee therefore decide upon the menu. Hostellers can pre-book their favorite non-vegetarian dishes apart from their regular vegetarian menu through the “Paaka-shale” app. The hostellers are provided with a cot, cupboard, study table and chair. Every hostel has solar water heaters, WiFi facility, common telephone, TV room, reading room, visitors lounge, water coolers, generators, 24×7 security and surveillance cameras. AC rooms are available in some of the hostels. The hostels also have facilities for indoor and outdoor games

Transport

A fleet of buses and vans , maintained in the campus to provide transport facilities to the students and staff, free of cost

Gymnasium

The air conditioned multi Gymnasium housed in a 5500 sq. ft building & kept open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the benefit of students and hostellers. The services of 3 professionally trained instructors are available. Equipments consist of Treadmills, elliptical trainers, exercise bikes, rowing machines and full fledged multi-gym.

Sports

The sports facilities in the campus consist of an athletic turf track of 400 mtrs, Football ground, Cricket pitch, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball and Badminton courts.

The campus has facilities for indoor games like Table Tennis, Chess and Carrom

The Theater club

Encourages and sensitizes students with theatre movements in India and abroad. The Club stages plays, street plays, mime shows and other theatre related activities.

Photography Club

Educates students on digital photography and videography techniques. It also conducts Photography Workshops, Photo walks and Exhibitions.

The Nitte Film Society

Introduces students to world cinema and encourages film appreciation. The Club also focuses on understanding cinema as an art form.

The Literary Club

Engages students in all forms of literature. Short story reading, poetry recitals, book reads are all part of the Club’s activities. The Club aims to encourage reading and writing among students.

Kshema Literary Forum

Kshema Literary Forum  found with an intention to excavate the creativity and love for language within the students and provide them a unique platform for its expression.

For all those who know “pen is mightier than sword” this is their arena. We believe we were able to foster their hidden talents and bring out the roaring ideas within them into limelight to a pretty good extent. Some of the most successful and crowd pulling events  conducted under the literary Forum. Events thus given the students an opportunity to register their opinions on various topics that need to be discussed and dissect it in different perspectives Ni-Eco the Environment Club, . Ni-Eco conducts workshops, discussions, film screenings, field visits and lectures
