About The College

NITTE Institute of Speech & Hearing

 

 

NITTE Institute of Speech & Hearing, Mangalore conceived under the banner of Nitte Education Trust in the year 2007. The Institute offers 4 years of Bachelor in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi, Approved by the Government of Karnataka and and has become a constituent college under Nitte (Deemed to be University) from the academic year 2021-2022

The Institute is spearheaded by the founder Principal Prof. T. Dattatreya (currently Director, Technical). A total of 10 Batches have passed out from the Institution. Students of these batches have obtained 11 ranks from Mangalore University. Our Alumni are serving all over India and abroad.

To develop Nitte Institute of Speech and Hearing as a centre of excellence, imparting quality education, generating competent, skilled and humane manpower to face the scientific, technological and social challenges in the fast-evolving global scenario, with high degree of credibility, integrity, ethical standards and social concern.

 

Facilities

Hostels

 

The college provides safe, secure, clean and well-furnished hostels with hygienic vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The hostel mess is maintained by an app “Paaka-shale” which gives students the freedom to pre-book their favorite dishes apart from their regular vegetarian menu. Recreation facilities include indoor & outdoor games and television. A resident warden is available to ensure care and safety of the students and to arrange for prompt services during of medical emergencies. The hostel has zero tolerance towards ragging, use of tobacco and drug abuse. Security personnels are placed round-the-clock in all the hostels.

 

Library

 

An extensive library is in place with a large stock of text and reference books. The Institute also has an e-library with access to e-books and journals. The library has a very peaceful ambiance for students to study. Students can also access the library at the K S Hegde Medical Academy and A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences with prior permission from the Principal. Campus

A commercial bank with ATM, cafeterias, general store, Wi-Fi connectivity and round-the-clock security are available in the campus.

The following facilities have been provided for women on the campus

  • Safety and security: Round-the clock security. Women guards are part of the Security force in the College campus area within the Medical Science Complex to assist women students and staff. Surveillance cameras at key places are present to act as a deterrent against acts of harassment/violence against women.
  • Free of cost Transportation facility Students and staff can avail free transportation in the Nitte Education Trust sponsored buses and vans to and from various parts of the city as a safe alternative for public transport.
  • Counselling services For Women students and Staff counselling services are available. Trained counseling staff include women counsellors and Psychiatrists.
  • Ladies Common Room: The Institution has Ladies Common Room for the exclusive use of girl students.
  • Day-care center for young children (creche) Creche facility is available to provide support for working mothers free of charge.

Student Support

 

Orientation programs for fresh entrants and training programs for students are conducted. Slow learners are identified and additional input is provided by teachers.

Conveyance

 

Free transport facilities are provided to students through a fleet of buses plying regularly from various points in the city to the college and back. The campus is also provided with the facility of using bicycles for commuting within the campus. Thus taken to maintain a healthy lifestyle and a green campus.

Sports

 

The campus has a 24000 sq.ft. Indoor Sports Complex, which houses a Floodlit Basket Ball Court, 4 Shuttle Badminton Courts, a Tennis Court, a Volley Ball Court and a Throw Ball Court.

Air-conditioned gymnasium and multi-purpose playground with running track are also available in the campus. A full time physical education teacher is available in the Institute to train the students in sports activities.
