Kristu Jayanti College, founded in 1999, is run by “BODHI NIKETAN TRUST”, formed by the members of St. Joseph Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). The college is affiliated to Bengaluru North University and is reaccredited with ‘A++‘ grade by NAAC .The institution strives to fulfill its mission to provide educational opportunities to all aspiring youth to excel in life by developing academic excellence, fostering values, creating civic responsibility and building global competencies in a dynamic environment.

In late 1990’s majority of higher educational institutions found in the southern and eastern parts of Bangalore. The northern part of Bangalore District was semi-urban and rural that lacked educational and industrial development. In order to build vibrant academic environment and to bring positive socio-economic changes in this geographical area, the college was started at K. Narayanapura, Kothanur region in 1999.

The college had a humble beginning with 1 course, 9 students and 3 faculty members has exponentially grown with 8000+ students and offers 29 UG programmes, 16 PG programmes and 3 PG Diplomas. The college has four recognized research centres in the field of Bio-Technology, Commerce, Psychology and Management.

Facilities

Infrastructure

The institution’s infrastructure is at pace with the changing needs of the student population. To be on par with the scientific and technological advancements, parallel expansion of infrastructure in the form of laboratories, library and other learning resources such as computers, e-resources and Wi-Fi facility are initiated.

Physical facilities have been expanded to create an ambience conducive for academic excellence and holistic development. Various departments and administrative sections housed in the Main Block. The MBA and MCA programmes function in a separate block. The college has spacious class rooms, auditoria, laboratories, conference halls, panel rooms and sports facilities.

Infrastructural facilities have gradually developed in accordance with the growing student strength. Adequate ICT and technological facilities enable effective transmission of education. The auditoria, amphitheatre and quadrangle serve as launch pads for diverse co-curricular activities. Various sports and games facilities contribute to the development of students in extra-curricular activities. The dynamism of the students evident in the optimal utilization of these facilities. Provide necessary infrastructural facilities to the differently-abled. The infrastructure has been augmented to suit the growing needs of students and additional funds have been set aside for effective upkeep.

Library

he Kristu Jayanti College Library strives to offer exceptional service by acquiring, organizing, and providing access to information resources specializing in the fields of science, social science, commerce and management and employs state-of-the-art technologies to support learning, teaching, research, and innovation..

The library is the heart of the institute. Studying, learning, exploration and discovery all happens under this one big roof. Libraries serve as centers of interdisciplinarity–places shared by learners from all disciplines. They also give users the opportunity to learn and continue learning throughout their lives

Laboratory

Well equipped and state-of-the-art labs with updated technology is one of strongest assets of the college. Practical sessions provide authentic and current knowledge to every budding scientist. The college takes pride at its labs that harbours favourable nurturing ground for personal growth, research and social progress. The maximum number of graduate students who return for post-graduation itself is an evidence of the quality of labs that the college offers. The college has computer labs, bio-science labs, psychology lab, commerce lab, language lab and multimedia center to give practical training in respective field.

• Computer labs

The institution has five computer labs housing more than 500 computers with advanced configuration distributed across the buildings. Interconnected through LAN networks with 1Gbps and highly configured L3 switches for intelligent network management. The institution has two ISPs (Airtel and ACT) with 350 Mbps bandwidth to provide seamless internet facility to all students. Internet also available in all the systems and Wi-Fi enabled campus . Any student with personal laptop connected to the server can access the internet and server services. Wi-Fi access enables students and faculty members to get the fastest accessibility of web services anywhere within the campus.

• Electronic labs

The institution has an electronics lab which can accommodate 60 students. Well equipped with the latest devices used in the electronics field. It has advance communication setup kits, Assembly Language Programming devices used for Microprocessor and Micro controllers, latest digital electronics kits, VHDL hardware kits. The laboratory is setup with unique and advanced CROs, functional generators, experimental kits, digital storage oscilloscope. It has an in-house project development center known as ‘Electronics club’ where students work on latest projects based on various fields of electronics. The lab also has the basic apparatus like regulated power supplies, analog functional generators, CROs etc.

• Bioscience Labs

The institution has five computer labs housing more than 500 computers with advanced configuration distributed across the buildings. Two labsconfigured as thin-client labs and other labs have stand alone machines but connected through network. Interconnected through LAN networks and highly configured L3 switches used for intelligent network management. The institution has two ISPs (Sify and Primus) with 6Mbps bandwidth to provide seamless internet facility to all students. Internet also available in all the systems and Wi-Fi enabled campuss Any student with personal laptop connected to the server can access the internet and server services. ISPs provide Radio Frequency Link (RFL) which enables students and faculty to get the fastest accessibility of web services anywhere within the campus.

• Business Labs

The Commerce and Management departments of Kristu Jayanti College has business lab. The idea behind the business lab is to inculcate knowledge and need-based work skills so that the graduates of the college find themselves prepared for employment and self-employment avenues as and when required. In order to accomplish this task we have incorporated practical aspects of the subject so the students may involve in experiential learning which is vital in present business world.

• Media Lab

Equipped with the latest audio-video production equipment to enable students to have hands-on experience in audio-video production. The journalism students get real-world experience in multi-media productions through the offline television channel- Kristu Jayanti College Television and an offline radio channel-Kristu Jayanti Radio.

• Psychology Lab

To understand the human behaviour is the basic essence of Psychology. Well-equipped and ICT enabled lab which caters to the need of undergraduate and postgraduate students, and various scholarly research activities. The lab entails various psychological tools to asses various dimensions such as Intelligence, Neuropsychology, Aptitude, Personality, Memory, Perception and Other Behavioural dimensions. The Undergraduate and Postgraduate students during their course of training also skilled in the area of administration, scoring, interpretation and report writing of various assessments.

• Language Labs

Vital element of the programme of the postgraduate students of English Literature. The first and second year students have two hours of lab activity every week. These classes complement the thrust of the overall curriculum designed to equip students in the major skills of language learning .

Students have benefited immensely from the materials made available to them in the lab .English Language Teaching, Linguistics and phonetic topics that are difficult to be explained without the aid of audio-visual apparatus made more immediate and effective through the Language Lab. The computer-enabled learning is much appreciated by the students as it furthers their learning and understanding.

Sports

Well known for its performance and achievements in sports and games. The Sports department coordinates the events which help students to perform well. The Department in collaboration with many recognized coaches give coaching to students in various games. An outstanding state-of- the-art facilities to coach students and considerable investment every year to have quality equipments is a commitment the college undertakes.

The College Teams participate in all inter-collegiate tournaments conducted by various colleges and Universites like, ” SPIEL Tournament”, “CRISPO”, Bangalore University North and South Zone Tournament, UVCE ETC.

Hostel

Separate hostels provided for both boys and girls. The hostels for girls managed by religious congregation of nuns.  The college tradition and discipline also extended to the hostels.

Cafeteria

Cafeteria is the pulse of the campus. It is a spacious area that provides a wide range of hygienic food at affordable price. It is a popular hub on the campus for student bonding and discussions.

Affiliated to Bengaluru North University and is reaccredited with ‘A++’ grade by NAAC in the Third Cycle of Accreditation in 2021. The college is recognized by UGC under the category 2(f) & 12(B). The college functions as an autonomous institution since 2013, sanctioned by the University Grants Commission, Government of Karnataka & the Bangalore University.
