Athena Institute of Health Sciences Mangalore

Athena Institute of Health Sciences Mangalore a unit of Athena Hospital, a Registered Society under Akshath Charitable Trust.  Christian Minority educational Institution affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru.

With the motto “Excellence in Education and Quality in Service” the Institution prepares Quality Health Care Personnel to cater to the health needs of people regardless of caste, religion and language.  Managed by Mr. R.S. Shettian as the Chairman and Mrs. Asha Shettian as the Secretary and Dr. Ashith Shettian as the Trustee.

The school of nursing came in to existence in 2003 with 3 years Diploma in Nursing (GNM) and in 2004 B.Sc. Nursing. Later in 2009 P.B.B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing programme also  started. Also started graduate courses in Allied Health Sciences under Athena Institute of Health Sciences by starting B.Sc. Renal Dialysis Technology course in the year 2017, B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology, B.Sc. Operation Theatre Technology & B.Sc. Imaging Technology in the year 2020 & will be starting B.Sc. Emergency & Trauma Care Technology in the year 2021.

Facilities

Infrastructure

All the constituent colleges of the Athena Group of Institutions have independent campuses. Hence each campus has within its premises, its own seminar halls, libraries, lecture halls, and other facilities required for wholesome education. More over  some of the major sports and athletics facilities are common for all institutions.

All lecture halls have functionally designed modern furniture and have been interfaced with ICT and multimedia friendly plug and play audiovisual facilities and Wi-Fi enabled campuses. More importantly , lecture halls at  Athena Group of Institutions were constructed very carefully keeping comfort ventilation and modern facilities in mind.

The college canteen has STD booth facilities.

Hostel

The college runs a separate hostel for both with all facilities within the campus.  Students get Nutritious, hygienic prepared vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Above all , the college has a well-furnished and hygienic canteen which provides healthy and nutritious food to the students.

Library and  Reading Room

We have a well-stocked computerized library that has books by Indian & Foreign authors, Indian & Foreign Journals, Periodicals, Magazines, Newspapers, CDs, and Cassettes. The library is managed by professionally qualified personnel.

Medical Facility

On admission, every student will undergo Medical Examination. An annual checkup are given for all students. The medical facility is available to students in our own super specialty Athena Hospital. Vaccination against hepatitis B and any communicable diseases if necessary.

Transport Facility

Athena is proud of its sterilization department; it gained the admiration of many official and nonofficial visitors. Accordingly, The plane of disinfection and sterilization is secure. However, it guarantees patients the best healthy environments and reduces the surgeon’s fear of infection risk.

Three fully equipped operation theaters are available for any surgical procedure such as a kidney transplant, cornea grafting, laparoscopic surgery, grafting or repairing major vessels, etc.  Surgeries such as ophthalmic, neuro, orthopedic, and ENT will be carried under three professional microscopes. Besides the laser unit standbys.

Laboratory

The Clinical Laboratory at Athena Hospital continues to offer state-of-the-art services to our patients. We can do more tests with less blood in a shorter time than ever before. As a result this gives our physicians the timeliest information to aid them in the diagnosis and treatment of their patients. Also the Laboratory consists of Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, and Pathology Departments. All staffed with dedicated employees utilizing the most up-to-date instrumentation available to provide the most accurate and timely results.

Eligibility Criteria

Firstly, a candidate seeking admission shall have studied English as one of the principal subjects during the tenure of the course shall have passed:

Secondly, two-year Pre-University examinations or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects of study.

Thirdly, lateral Entry to the second year for allied health science courses for candidates who have passed diploma program from the Government Boards and recognized by RGUHS ,as a result students are eligible to take admission on lateral entry system only in the same subject studied at diploma level

Finally , the minimum age for admission will be 17 years at the time of admission.

Admission Procedure

Firstly, the specific application form for the program should collect from the website of the Enroll academy or University.
Secondly, the submission of duly filled forms for application with essential and mandatory documents. Duly signed with the application, further applications for the fees either in demand/draft or cash to the Office of admission, Srinivas University.
Again, collect the admission confirmation letter and pay the remaining amount while starting college.
