AJ Institute of Engineering and Technology Mangalore promoted by Laxmi Memorial Education TrustR.). AJIET was established in the year 1991 in memory of Late Laxmi Shetty, mother of Dr. A. J. Shetty. AJ Institute of Engineering and Technology was affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University.

Courses

• Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is one of the most sought-after options among students in India. It is one of the oldest engineering professions.

A career after this course is highly rewarding. Government job opportunities are many for Civil Engineers. Specialization (Masters) in any field of Civil Engineering has got a wide scope at National and International levels. Scope of Civil Engineers recruitment at reputed companies is very high.

The role of Civil Engineer is vital in numerous fields for instance planning, designing, and overseeing construction of buildings, structures, and facilities. AJ Institute of Engineering and Technology faculty consists of well-qualified and highly experienced lectures with the student to faculty ratio of 15:1, at par with the AICTE requirement. They took part in constructions such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, dams, irrigation, pipelines, power plants, water, and sewage systems, etc. The department was established in the year 2016 with the inception of AJIET, Mangaluru.

The Department is offering undergraduate courses (B.E) in Civil Engineering with an intake of 60 and Affiliated with VTU Belagavi. Above all, the department has got experienced and highly dedicated faculty members.

In contrast, the UG curriculum strikes a balance between Engineering fundamentals and applications and thereby, preparing graduates for both research and professional practice in the Civil Engineering disciplines. Meanwhile, as an entrepreneur young Civil Engineers can design and build safe, stable, and economical structures. This ultimately helps in the national and economic development of the country.

• Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department was started in the year 2016 to offer 4 years under graduation (BE) in computer science. The CSE course has a total annual intake of 60 students and had the maximum demand for student admission in the last four academic years.

Currently, the department has one Professor with Ph.D., one Associate Professor, and seven Assistant Professors. In addition, three faculty members are already on the virtue of completion of their Ph.D. work, and others are also started their research work. In addition to their dedicated service in professional teaching, the faculties are actively involving in molding the students in all the directions essential to succeed in today’s competitive world.

However, the department also organized several technical training programs/workshops/seminars for students and faculty to acquire additional knowledge and skills in various areas of computer science. The CSE students participated and won prizes in various technical/cultural/sports activities organized in various organizations.

Meanwhile, in this 21st century, Computers have turn into a common and required part of life in the presents society. Similarly, making IT education became essential and computer engineers play a vital role in national development. The department of CSE was started following exactly the norms & regulations of AICTE & VTU and has qualified faculty members having excellent research credits in various research domains in computer science.

Besides, the department also published several research articles in various reputed and peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. These articles got indexed and achieved in various scientific and research databases such as SCOPUS/DBLP/SPRINGER/IEEE/ACM etc.

The branch of Electronics & Communication Engineering started during the inception of AJIET, with a sanctioned intake of 60 students a batch. The branch caters to two broader areas of engineering, electronics in general and communication in particular.

The E & C Engineering branch of AJIET can boast excellent expertise and facilities in both the curricular and co-curricular areas. AJ Institute of Engineering and Technology faculty consists of well-qualified and highly experienced lectures with the student to faculty ratio of 15:1, at par with the AICTE requirement.

The engineers graduating from this branch engage in fields such as research, design, development, and testing of the electronic equipment used in various systems. Similarly, these systems may range from the simple toy industry to major consumer electronics or from household articles to space/satellite communication.

Furthermore, all the laboratories are equipped with spacious and well stocked with state-of-the-art equipment, to not only perform experiments of syllabus but also to carry out academic research activities.

Meanwhile, the department encouraging pragmatic learning by conducting mini-projects and industrial visits every semester. Apart from mandatory requirements via-a-viz experimental learning, the department is empowered by the existence of the in-house Technology training center Epitas Technologies, which is the domain expert in almost all of the modern-day cutting-edge technologies such as Embedded Systems, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning to name a few.

• Information Science and Engineering

Department of Information Science and Engineering was established in the year 2016 with the establishment of AJIET, Mangaluru. The department is offering a bachelor of engineering program in Information Science & Engineering with an intake of 60 with excellent infrastructure. AJ Institute of Engineering and Technology faculty section is embedded with highly experienced lectures.

Besides, the faculty of the department has published 2 textbooks, 2 book chapters, and more than 90 research papers in reputed national and international conferences and journals.

The major goal of the department is to produce highly knowledgeable, competent, and resourceful young engineers who can excel in their respective professions.

Above all, the department has well-qualified dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff with well-equipped laboratories to fulfill the academic needs of the students.

• Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering started in the year 2016 with the inception of AJIET, Mangaluru.

The Department is offering undergraduate courses (B.E) in Mechanical Engineering with an intake of 60 and Affiliated with VTU Belagavi. Department conducts various seminars, Technical talks, Industrial visits, etc.

Highly dedicated and experienced faculty members who always motivate students with the latest technological advancements in the field and nourish them to come out with flying colors.

Likewise, the department helps to engage in sponsored research, consultancy, testing, and characterization majorly in the areas of advanced materials development, processing, thermal, and design topics.

Facilities 

Library and Information Centre

The AJIET library with its state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities provides a good academic atmosphere in extending comprehensive and wide-ranging services to the users. The areal extent is 532 sqm and with a seating capacity for more than 160 users at a time

The library provides Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV) to enable a security system for the detection of any undue incidents. Similarly, the library provides fully automated barcode readers including an automated circulation facility.

Hostel

AJIET has separate hostels for both Likewise, each room provided with all modern residential facilities with a neat environment, for boarding and other recreational activities. Life in hostels always provides many wits and fond memories. Similarly, all efforts made to make the living in AJIET hostels most meaningful, purposeful, and memorable as well.

The hostels have their own mess to provide good and hygienic food to the students. In addition to good residential facilities and nutritious food, the AJIET hostels also aim to improve team spirit, cooperation, and human values among students.

Sports and Games

The college has sports facilities that are provided to the students under the Professor of Physical education. The college has facilities for indoor and outdoor activities. Indoor facilities are provided for Table Tennis, Chess, and Caroms. Outdoor facilities are provided for Volleyball, Basketball, football, cricket, shuttle Badminton and athletics. With the commissioning of the auditorium indoor basketball and shuttle court also will be functioning.

Cafeteria

The college canteen which is functioning in the college campus provides all the delicious food/snacks at a highly subsidized rate.

Auditorium

The college has a 2500 capacity Auditorium with cushion chairs and the best Audio-Visual Facilities.

IT Infrastructure

The college Central Computer Centre (CCC) primarily caters to the Internet Access requirements throughout the institute. As well as the Campus-wide network connectivity throughout the campus including academic and administrative departments etc.

Central Computer Centre has developed an institute website, ERP, and currently maintaining the website. Moreover, the Central Computer Centre manages institute ERP and provides services to all staff members. Central Computer Centre has become the prominent component of the institute. It provides computing and internet facilities in the institute campus. Accordingly, the Campus-wide computer network controlled by the center has become the backbone of the institute.

Transport

The institute owns a fleet of well-maintained buses for the personal transport of staff and students.

Laboratories

The college has a departmental-based laboratories facility for the students. The college provides labs such as Material Testing Lab, Surveying Practice laboratory, Fluid mechanics, and hydraulic machinery lab, Engineering geology laboratory, Concrete, and highway material testing lab.

Placement

Training/Carrier guidance/IIPC committee at AJ Institute of Engineering and Technology Mangalore works with the sole objective to shape student dreams in the right path with proper guidance & training.  A J Institute of Engineering and Technology faculty provides all the guidance for students to achieve their goals.

In this regard, the college provides a dedicated language lab. It helps to improve student’s communication skills.  AJIET provides proper industrial Exposure to students along with academics. In this context, AJ Institute of Engineering and Technology Mangalore organizes Industrial visits to Various Industries/Organisations like All India Radio (AIR), New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), etc. AJIET also provides necessary Training & Carrier Guidance sessions from industry resource persons to motivate students and work towards their goals.

AJIET students become eligible for placement from the 6th semester onwards. Frequently visiting companies such as TCS(Tata Consultancy systems ), WIPRO, GyroEducation, Infosys, etc.  Almost 80% of students received jobs through campus placement. Each year many Companies like Infosys, Wipro, IBM, ribbons Communication, Cognizant, TCS have visited the Campus and recruited the Students. More than 85 Companies Visited the Campus for the Placement Drive of last year.
