Facilities in Yenepoya Dental College

 


Lecture Hall

 

There are 3 Lecture Halls with seating capacity of with 180 students (Gallery type), all located at the 2nd Basement of the Dental College. The Lecture Halls are provided with excellent seating arrangements and latest audio visual equipments. Audio visual aids provided in the lecture halls include sound amplifier system, overhead projection, 35 mm slide projection and LCD projections apart from the traditional black board and chalk. The lecture halls have also been equipped with facilities for E-learning. The Examination Hall has adequate seating and is designed in such a way that all students are in clear view of the supervisor. The halls are also under CCTV surveillance for added security of our students.
The data in respect to attendance, scholastic performance & overall progress of the students is recorded and stored in a retrievable form using a software program called Students Information System (SIS). Parents are updated regarding the progress of their wards every month by email and postal communication. There are also individual seminar room for each department with an in-house library, comprising of relevant text books and journals. The dental college also has an auditorium hall at the 5th floor of the building, provided with excellent seating arrangements of 300 capacity, Audio visual aids and sound amplification system.

 

Library

 

The Yenepoya Libraries play a vital role in the teaching, learning and research programs of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). The libraries support and reflect to realize the objectives of the University and provide library and information services to more than 8,000 users across various faculties of study. The libraries aim to achieve these through acquisition, organization and dissemination of library resources both in print and electronic formats. The library committee, support of the management and dedicated library staff contribute to the effective functioning of the libraries.
The libraries have a total holding of 53,738 books 220 Print journals including 124 national and 96 International journals, 2500 + e-resources, 9316 back volumes of journals, 2441 Theses and Dissertations.
The Yenepoya Libraries provide off campus  access  24 x 7 to a wide range of resources of  e-books, e-journals and online databases like Clinical Key, Wolters Kluwer, Ovid,  JCO Digital Library, BMJ standard collection, BMJ Case Reports and EBSCO Sports Discuss through the MyLoft  remote access program.
The Yenepoya Libraries have a seating capacity of over 1000 and provides a range of services to faculty, research scholars and students.  The libraries continuously engage in improvement of the quality of services and facilities through modernization of its activities and operations to achieve higher degree of user satisfaction.

The University is a member of the National Cancer Grid Consortium of e-resources, which has enabled access to the NCG Virtual Library resources. Institutional membership also available to DELNET provides access to a large collection of learning resources . The University also a member of the HELINET consortium of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, (RGUHS) . All library operations  computerized with an Integrated Library Management software. Biometric Access Control system in the libraries regulates the access of authorized users.

 

Museum

 

Established in 1999 The Museum of Dental Materials, unique education medium for providing dental education.

This Museum consists of Large Collection of

1.    All the materials used in Dentistry

2.    Various teaching models prepared indigenously in the YDC labs.

3.    Clinical fabrication procedures – to demonstrate the step by step use of different materials.
4.    Common instruments and equipment used in dentistry are also a part of the collection here

5. Unique features of this museum are
a) Antique collection of materials and equipments used for more than 70 – 100 years in dental field.

b) Collection of teeth and jaws of different birds and animals to emphasize on the gradual evolution of gnathic apparatus.

 

WiFi enabled digital campus

 

The digital era characterized by the technology enhancing the depth and breadth of knowledge. Digital campus supported by Yen-Net (Wi-Fi) service which works 24X7 . Open access to the internet also exposes one to harmful content, security threats and data breaches thus we provide filtered and secured data access to learning material.

Nature is another closest companion you will have along with your fellow boarders at Yenepoya cluster of hostels. The salubrious climate, peaceful environment and the surroundings make it a perfect for personal growth mentally and academically. Separate hostels provided for both men and women .

All the hostel rooms furnished and equipped with basic amenities. PG hostels , air-conditioned, whereas, in UG hostels, air-conditioned rooms provided as per the personal request. The hostels have attached dining halls, TV rooms, Wi-Fi facilities, RO drinking water, and Laundry facilities.
