The Oxford College of Science  started in the year 1994 with twelve students and five teachers. Within 25 years the college has registered a phenomenal growth. Presently College is catering education to more than 3000 students. The institution owes this astounding progress to our dedicated Management and a committed teaching staff. Within an intensely competitive environment, the college has adopted a dynamic, global, high quality: creative and communicative approach in education, as well as research and development. Keeping abreast with modern developments, the institution is constantly reinventing itself and renovating its physical infrastructure as well as its research and education facilities. The Oxford College of Science is ranked in top 5 among private colleges in Karnataka for 15 consecutive years.

Course Offered

The Oxford College of Science which is affiliated to Bangalore University proudly stands on a sprawling campus with a 6-storeyed building of 2.85 lakh sq. area in HSR Layout, Sector IV and is considered the most preferred place for obtaining a Bachelors and Master’s Degree in different Sciences and technical Subjects. The Oxford College of Science offers 10 combinations of the B.Sc. programme; B.Sc.-Fashion and Apparel Design and BCA; 10M.Scprogrammes, MCA, MA (English); PG Diploma in Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics.The Oxford College of Science is proud to announce that the Department of Biotechnology has been chosen by KBITS, GoK for funding and hosting the Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme (BiSEP) in the second cycle (BTFS in  first cycle)

Facilities

Library

Library and Information Centre (LIC) is rapidly developing up to be one of the most sought professional education & research referral library. It started its service in the year 1994. All bibliographic details of books, journals and CD-ROM databases are accessible through the campus wide network. The library has vast number of printed documents, and it subscribes National and International journals. It has established contacts with other organizations for exchange of the Institute’s publications and inter-library loan arrangement.

Library is the place of knowledge open for academicians and students. The library has more than 25665volumes of books on a variety of subjects and 10045 titles. Utmost care is taken in developing resources for each department. Our Library subscribes to more than 70 International and National Periodicals and has a good collection of latest CDs on various fields. The house keeping operations of the Library is fully automated with Libsoft Library Automation Software and RFID Technology.

Transportation

The Oxford Institutions have their own fleet of buses for the benefit of students. The public transport services are within close reach of the college making commuting simple for those who come from different parts of the city.

Hostel

With about 500 rooms and spacious dining area, the hostel at The Oxford College is truly a home away from home.  Separate residential areas for boys and girls have adequate facilities to make the students’ stay a comfortable one. Other facilities like hygienic and nutritious food, a sports centre and reading rooms ensure the overall well-being of the hostelites.

Class rooms and Laboratories

The Oxford College has world-class classrooms with interactive boards and scientific laboratories designed with imported interiors and furnishings from well -known designers and fabricators. The gallery classrooms are well equipped with latest teaching aids and audiovisual facilities.

The College has45 well-equipped laboratories for each of the individual subjects to cater to regular day-to-day practical and research activities. They are geared to provide extended individual experiment time. The labs stock sophisticated and high-end instruments to help students familiarize themselves with futuristic technology.

English Language Laboratory

An added facility in the college is the English Language Laboratory consisting of 50 computers installed with Wordsworth software to hone the language and grammar skills of students. Such an opportunity for enhancement of soft skills provides our students with the advantage of competing in the global environment.

Auditorium

The auditorium with a 650 seating capacity to enable the students and faculty to organize symposia, conferences and other academic and cultural programs. The auditorium is well designed with video conferencing facilities to interact with well-known personalities in related fields all over the world.

Computer centre

Computer programming is an integral part of UG and PG programmes. The Oxford College has a well-equipped centralized computer center to cater to the students and the faculty. Eight excellent state-of-the-art laboratories set up in the college. These laboratories house a total of 500 computers connected on the LAN network. The specialized laboratories provide a variety of The Wi-Fi facility connects the academic, administrative, and hostel blocks of the campus, with internet facilities on all the nodes. It also has the latest versions of scientific and technical software, and training kits etc. for the students of different branches. The computer center also used for conducting short term training programmes students and faculty

Learning-Resources Centre

The centrally air conditioned and automated library complements the rich learning experience. The library houses over 1.25 lakh books, 2.5 lakhs online books and 200 hard bound scientific Journal and around 2000 online national and international journals, periodicals, magazines,CDs and DVDs and theses. There are spacious reading rooms as well as provision for issuing books for reference platforms and computing environment for UG, PG and research students.

E-Content development facility

The Oxford College of Science has its own E-Content development facility “THE STUDIO” which has its own state of the art camera –SONY PD170, a sound proof recording room, softlights (LED) ,Black Magic Deck, condenser microphones, Chroma key latest FCP video editing suite and Pro Tools audio editing suite.

This facility enables us to develop e-content for all the subjects including core papers and electives and also develop MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) and hence provide our students easy access to these subjects through online platforms.

NSS

National Service Scheme (NSS)  launched during the Mahatma Gandhi’s centenary year i.e., 1969.The NSS unit of The Oxford College Of Science started in the year 2008. The main aim of NSS Development of student personality through Community Service . In order to fulfil this objective, student Volunteers and Program functionaries  engaged in constructive and productive programs involving students in various awareness drives like Shramdaan, Social reforms, Communal harmony, creation of community assets, relief work, blood donation, environmental protection, eradication of child labour, adult literacy programs, health education campaigns etc., Under the scheme, each volunteer contributes 240 hours of community work during the period of a year.

 NCC

Attached to 1KARNATAKA BATTALION, under Bangalore ‘A’ group, KAR and GOA Directorate. Has authorized strength of 52 Cadets.

Inculcates values of character, patriotism, unity and selfless service amongst the youth patriotic citizens of our country. Builds confidence and leadership qualities, helps them gear towards joining the armed forces. Besides, provides plethora of job opportunities indistinct sectors.

 Sports

Sports includes all forms of competitive physical activity or games . At TOCS we have a well equipped Physical education department . Combining sports in education can help students to develop a self-motivating spirit to do things on their own and having ownership of these. Actively involved in sports help students relax from their daily routine of learning course syllabus . Great medium to keep the mind, body and soul in sync and maintain a balance between work and play.

Placements

Placement offered by the companies good enough for the BCA aspirants. MNCs offer good packages as well as provide internships. Many popular IT companies like Adobe, SAP, IBM, Amazon, Infosys, Wipro, etc. also visited the campus for placements. From the college, 10-50% recruited through on-campus selections, and companies offer an average stipend of Rs. 15,000 to 35,000 depending on their performance.
