NITTE Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences Mangalore

 

 

NITTE Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences Mangalore established in the year 1992, a college of great repute is well known for its academic standards, diverse curricular activities, distinguished faculty, illustrious alumni and state of art facilities. The long term commitment to humanity and unflinching adherence to social cause is reflected in its motto ‘Service before Self’.

The Institute offers Post-graduate, Degree, PB B.Sc. and diploma courses in nursing with an annual intake of 10, 100, 20 and 60 students respectively. The institution also offers add-on course in Renal, Critical Care Nursing, Geriatric Mental Health, ELNEC -Palliative care, Lactation Education Program and Pre Hospital and Emergency Life Support with the objective of enhancing competencies in areas of specialisation.

The Institute has initiated a value added course in Emergency Nursing Life Support as a part of MoU with Nitte DU for the students. This course is conducted in collaboration with the Jeeva-Raksha Trust created by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement. The main aim of this program is to certify the doctors, nurse and paramedics with the necessary skills on Emergency care support.

The OBG Nursing Department of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences in collaboration with the Dept. of OBG, Justice K.S Hegde Charitable Hospital established a ‘NITTE USHA MAATHR KSHEMA’ – A Child Birth Education Centre in the OBG OPD in the year 2020 and has been running quite efficiently.

 

 

 

Facilities

 

 

 

Hostels

 

The hostels are on campus and in close proximity to the college and hospital.

Hostel fee: The hostel fee for the first year which includes the caution deposit, mess advance and the room rent wcollected at the time of admission. The room rent for the subsequent academic years  collected at the beginning of each year along with college fee. Caution deposit refunded only at the end of the course. Establishment charges and other utilities like electricity and water collected.

Allotment of rooms: Rooms allotted to the students at the time of their admission. The students cannot vacate the room in the middle of the academic year. Boarders also not permitted to change rooms in the middle of the academic year. In case the boarder wishes to change rooms, a written permission signed by the Head of the Institution and the Assistant Director (Student Affairs) is required.

Mess: The mess advance collected adjusted against the monthly mess charges and any shortfall to made good by the students. The vegetarian mess run on a cost sharing basis. Based on the suggestions of the boarders, the mess committee  decide upon the menu. catering not permitted. Hostellers can pre-book their favorite non-vegetarian dishes apart from their regular vegetarian menu through the “Paaka-shale” app.

Conveyance

 

A fleet of buses and vans maintained in the campus .

Health Care

 

Students can avail medical and dental treatment at K S Hegde Charitable Hospital and the A B Shetty Dental College Hospital.

Gymnasium

 

The air conditioned multi Gymnasium housed in a 5500 sq. ft building kept open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.. The services of 3 professionally trained instructors are available. Equipments consist of Treadmills, elliptical trainers, exercise bikes, rowing machines and full fledged multi-gym.

Sports Facilities

 

The sports facilities in the campus consist of an athletic turf track of 400 mtrs, Football groundetc

The campus has facilities for indooor games like Table Tennis, Chess and Carrom.

Student Mentoring and Counselling

 

A group of 5 students assigned to a teacher . Orientation programs for fresh entrants , training in leadership, public speaking, effective communication, facing interviews conducted regularly. Student support programs such as student welfare cell, placement & guidance cell and women’s wing address the academic and psychological needs of the students.

 

Placement and Career Guidance Cell

 

 

Campus placement cell of NUINS  established in 2009 for providing job opportunities to all the students. The cell organizes various awareness programs on placement and career progression to the students every year. Besides the career Guidance talk, the cell takes the responsibilities to arrange placement drives in the campus yearly and also motivates the students  Max Health Care Pvt. Ltd. New Delhi, Ruby Hall Clinic Pune, Fortis Hospital Gurgaon, Haryana, Kokilaben Dirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute Mumbai, Global Health Pvt. Ltd. Medicity New Delhi, Apollo Group of Hospitals Hyderabad are some of the reputed institutions visit our institute consistently. Placement cell of NUINS constitutes advisory committeeand the Placement officer; Ms. Gincy Joseph, Lecturer, College of Nursing.
