Mangalore College of Nursing (MCN) Mangalore started in the year 1998 under the ‘Ullal Charitable Education Trust’ with an aim to provide quality nursing education. Located in Mangalore in the Karnataka state of India.
Mangalore College of Nursing (MCN), Mangalore is accredited by AICTE and is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University. MCN, Mangalore offers 1 course across 1 stream namely Nursing.
Initially, it was being run by a group of philanthropists. Now a group of doctors with more than a decade of experience in the fields of Health and Education have recently joined in as new trustees and have decided not only to take the college forward but also to improve it in every aspect. We have shifted the college premises to a new campus along with a new hostel.
Meanwhile, Mangalore is a quaint coastal city on the southernmost tip of Karnataka, bordering Kerala. It is well known as a hub of Educational, Health, and Financial Institutions.
New Mangalore College of Nursing focuses on guiding the students to a practice of continuous learning and increasing competency. similarly, they are providing consideration to the development of leadership qualities strictly congruent with the social and ethical obligation. Moreover, that a responsible health professional should have towards society at large.
College acknowledges the responsibility in molding the students to acquire specialized knowledge, develop skills and desirable attitudes affording independent problem-solving approach and in providing an atmosphere for the students to become acquirers of “Gem Personality” along with a greater sense of self-direction.

Courses
General Nursing and Midwifery
Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a three-year program aimed to prepare students to work effectively as members of the health team. Similarly, the program trains students to closely assess the nursing need of the patients monitor the condition of patients provide effective nursing care, and assist the doctors in surgical procedures.
In the same way, this job-oriented program comprises subjects like Nursing Fundamentals Anatomy & Physiology Psychology Biology Sociology and First Aid. Likewise, the students learn to set up medical equipment in operation theatres and adeptly handle patients during emergency situations.
Eligibility Criteria
Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination 40% & above marks in II PUC
Age between 17 to 35 years
Admission on the basis of the merit of the previous qualifying examination.
Applications are available from April onwards.
Selection in the months of June to August.
Admission in the month of September or October
Admission Procedures
Firstly, the specific application form for the program should collect from the website of the Enrollacademy or University.
Secondly, the submission of duly filled forms for application with essential and mandatory documents. Duly signed with the application, further applications for the fees either in demand/draft or cash to the Office of admission, Srinivas University.
After that, collect the admission confirmation letter and pay the remaining amount while starting the academic session.
BSC. NURSING
B.Sc. Nursing course is meant to develop in students some critical thinking skills, competence, and standards required for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery. A lot of sectors require these graduates hence increasing its demand which is expected to increase in the future as well. The course involves the nursing of the wounded or ill.
In India, the course was registered and controlled by the Indian Nursing Council. While this may be true a person genuinely interested to serve society by treating and caring for patients should opt for this course. This can be a very satisfying and gratifying career for the compassionate.
In addition to a person can go further for a master’s in nursing which is a great advantage as it increases the expertise in the field generating more demand and better opportunities. If a person wishes to go into teaching, then Ph.D. is advisable for them.
Eligibility Criteria
Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination.
50% marks in PCB (physics, chemistry, Biology) 40% marks for reserved category in PCB
Age – 17 years as of August 31 of the year of admission
Admission is based on the merit of the previous qualifying examination.
Admission of NRIs and foreign nationals is based on the qualifying marks in their core subjects
Applications are available from April onwards.– Selection in the months of June to August.

Post Basic B. Sc. Nursing
Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (P.B.B.Sc.) a 2- year undergraduate program pursued by candidates interested in the field of Nursing. Likewise, nurses healthcare professionals who are trained in taking care of patients, treating them, and assisting doctors in treatment and surgery.
Successful graduates of the course get hired in nursing educational institutions. Able to work in fields such as clinical nursing, and public health nursing in community settings. Besides the lessons in Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (P.B.B.Sc.) courses imparted through classroom and clinic-based teaching and educational visits.
A qualified Registered Nurse is capable of administering preventive, promotive, and rehabilitative services to patients and communities at large.
Eligibility Criteria
Pass in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with 55% marks in GNM
Age Limit is 48 years on August 31 st of the year of Admission
Admission is under Merit basis in the qualifying examination.
Applications are available from April onwards.
Selection should occur in the months of June to August.

Affiliated Hospitals of New Mangalore College of Nursing
Even though we have our own parent hospital; we have affiliations from other hospitals in & around Mangalore, to enhance the training of our students. E.g. We have tied up with Govt. Wenlock hospital and Fr. Muller’s Charitable Hospital for extended training of our students.
Highland Hospital and Research Center
Highland Hospital started its successful journey in the year 1995 by Dr. CP Abdul Rahman and Y Razia Rahman. Besides a symbol of relentless pursuance towards rendering sophisticated high-quality care, at an affordable cost, to the sick and needy.
Government Wenlock District Hospital
The hospital named after the then governor, Beilby Lawley, 3rd Baron Wenlock established in 1848 during the British Raj when Mangalore was a part of the Madras Presidency. Subsequently, After India’s independence, the hospital came under the control of the Madras State. In 1955, T. M. A. Pai, the founder of Manipal Academy of Higher Education established the Kasturba Medical College with Wenlock Hospital as the teaching hospital. Besides Mangalore became a part of the Mysore state in 1956.
