Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences Bangalore

Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences Bangalore established in the year 1980 by the Vokkaligara Sangha and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi university of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka.

The Vokkaligara Sangha took a formal decision on 2nd September 1979 to start a Medical College from the year 1980-81 and applied for permission to the Registrar, Bangalore University. On 30th November 1980, Shri R Gundu Rao, the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, laid the foundation stone of the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital in the premises of the Sangha and announced the grant of vacant land in Banashankari used for the construction of college building and hostels.A Magnificent college building to mark the centenary celebrations of the Vokkaligara Sangha and the Silver Jubilee of KIMS has been built at the Banashankari Campus.

The Pre-clinical and Para Clinical Departments are Located at Banashankari 2nd Stage near BDA complex and the Clinical Departments and KIMS Hospital are located at the KIMS Hospital, Krishna Rajendra Road, Visveswarapuram, 4kms from the College campus.

KIMS came into existence in 1980 in Bangalore, Karnataka.

Selection of candidates in M.B.B.S. is based on the score of COMEDK/KCET .

The candidates seeking admission in any of the PG degree and Diploma programs, including MD and MS courses required to have passed M.B.B.S. along with the compulsory one-year rotary internship program.

The selection of the candidates in all the PG programs is based on the rank list of PGCET/COMED-K .

Facilities

Hostel

There are two separate hostels at present, one for the boys and another for the girls. Hostels are located in the Institute campus at Banashankari and can accommodate about 200 students each. Student Welfare Officers and Wardens also available to both students and interns .

Transport

There are five buses including one mini bus and two Maruthi vans available for Transportation of students

Sports

The college has a fully equipped health club with a 10 Station Multi-Gym, two TreadMills and Steppers for instance . The Health Club is open to all students of KIMS from 6:00AM to 8:00PM. Indoor Games like Chess, Carrom and Table tennis are also available. The New Sports Complex coming up will house two Synthetic Tennis Courts, Basketball and Volleyball Courts and an Amphitheatre

Canteen

The Hospital Canteen Sri Nidhi Sagar caters to the need of both Faculty and staff at KIMS Hospital. A new canteen with modern amenities is open at the college campus.
