Jyoti Nivas College  – minority Christian College founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes. Since its inception in 1966,  College has remained steadfast to one central commitment- to provide a balanced, comprehensive education in Arts, Science and Commerce, aimed at turning out intellectually enlightened, morally upright, spiritually oriented and socially committed young persons.

Innovations, advancement and best practices in the key areas of knowledge incubation, social immersion, governance and infrastructure have ensured our continuous growth towards excellence. The past 53 years have seen thousands of young girls from far off regions enroll for higher education. The institution provides a secure haven for girl students by providing a positive atmosphere to develop their innate strengths.
JNC is also dedicated to nurturing socially responsible future leaders. Run by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes whose charism is building communion. Institutional Social Responsibility towards the underprivileged is one distinctive feature of JNC.

 

Course Offered

 


 

The college offers B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, and BCA through Undergraduate degrees and MBA. MCA, M.A, M.Com, and M.Sc through Postgraduate degree. Admission to these courses is both merit and Entrance based.

The popular course of the college is MBA and MCA and students placed with these degrees get an average salary package of 3 LPA. Students are placed in top reputed companies such as Goldman Sachs, J.P Morgan, MindTree, Wipro, SAP-labs, Cognizant, Infosys, etc.

 

Facilities

 


Library

 

The library is spacious and well ventilated. The overall purpose of the Library and Information Centre is to support the curriculum offered at Jyoti Nivas College. The function of the library is to support and enrich classroom instruction through a collection of carefully selected material based on courses and programs offered by the college.

Auditorium

 

The college takes pride in promoting the aesthetic and cultural sensibilities of its students. The Jyoti Nivas Auditorium acts as a cultural hub that showcasesaesthetic and artistic expression. Plays, music and dance performances, intellectual seminars, and edifying film screenings, all find a venue here.

Centrally located on the campus, the Jyoti Nivas Auditorium boasts a state-of-the-art mixer, seating capacity of over 1200, theatre surround sound, well-equipped green-rooms, and gendered washrooms. Besides cultural programmes, important college events, like the Convocation, and the Investiture ceremony are held here.

 

Food Court

 

Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous inaugurated its new canteen on January 31, 2018 in the presence of Honourable Home Minister Shri Ramalinga Reddy and Dr. Arathi Krishna, Deputy Chariman, NRI Forum Karnataka. The management of Jyoti Nivas College, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes were present in good number to celebrate the occasion. The new facility can house over users, and serves variety of eatables at very reasonable rate. It also has a mini mart to respond to various needs of students.

Hostel

 

Hostel is run by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes. Admission will be granted on fulfillment of the following conditions:

• Admission to the college
• Payment of hostel fees

 

Sports

 

Physical education is an integral part of the curriculum where our students show their excellence as achievers, winners and representatives of Throw ball, Hand ball, Foot ball, Soft ball, Cricket and Hockey.

 

Board Room

 

The board room with seating capacity of 50 used for academic purposes. Equipped with overhead projector,LCD system and other audio visual aids.

 

Conference Hall

 

Built for the purpose of accommodating delegates, students and faculties during seminars, conferences faculty meeting, training programmes and admissions.
The hall has a total seating capacity of 120 people and equipped with overhead projector, LCD system and other audio-visual aids.

 

Gym

 

In addition to academics, the college also pays attention to the health and fitness of the students. The gymnasium is a proud addition to the services and facilities offered to the students. The college has invested over three lakhs on equipment for the gym, which includes cross-trainers, multi-gyms, treadmills, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, and stationary bikes.

 

Zoological Museum

 

The Zoological museum collection is an important teaching resource for the Department of Zoology. It has a collection of 137 specimens belonging to the different phyla of the animal kingdom. Some of the rare collections include Invertebrates like Physalia- Portuguese Man of war, Hyalonema- Glass rope sponge, Chatetopterus, Vertebrates like the Loris, gibbon and a variety of snakes highlighting the diversity of animal life.
The museum also has complete skulls of animals like the horse, man, cat, dog, rabbit, pigeon, and the turtle’s anapsid skull. Disarticulated skeletons of the frog, lizard, pigeon, rabbit, human, and articulated human skeleton are also on display.
The 152 slides include histological sections, cytological preparations, whole mounts of developmental stages , sections of organisms, protozoans, placentae and tissues.

 

Language Lab

 

language lab plays an important role in the language learning process. Equipped with computers, and audiovisual accessories, where students can practice Listening Speaking Reading Writing (LSRW) skill. The centre has access to Oréll software that offers unlimited innovation and limitless value.

 

Student Union Room

 

Learning centre for the student community, where they sit together to plan for their annual activities.
This year the student union room has renovated to a contemporary, and classy room equipped with high quality furnishings and technology. Furnished with wooden flooring along with a huge storage capacity in the cupboards. Used to keep important documents safely. Art works, charts, banners and posters can also stored conveniently.
