st joseph engineering college (SJEC) an Autonomous Institute under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka State, and is recognized by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. SJEC is registered under the trust “Diocese of Mangalore, Social Action Department”.

Established in 2002, the College offers top-class education in Engineering, Business Administration and Computer Applications at UG, PG and Research levels.

The UGC granted autonomous status to the Institute since 2021. At SJEC, the OBE system has been implemented since 2011. Four of the UG programs, namely Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering, have full accreditation from the NBA until June 2022. Also, the institution has been accredited with A+ grade by NAAC and is valid up to February 2026.

Objectives

• Firstly, Provide Quality Technical Education facilities to every student  and facilitate the development of all round personality of the students.
• Provide most competent staff and excellent support facilities like laboratory, library and internet required for good education on a continuous basis.
• Encourage organizing and participation of staff and students in in-house and outside Training programmes, seminars, conferences and workshops on continuous basis.
• Provide incentives and encouragement to motivate staff and students to actively involve in research-innovative projects in collaboration with industry and R &D centres on continuous basis
• Invite more and more number of persons from industry from India and abroad for collaboration and promote Industry-Institute Partnership.
• Encourage consultancy and testing and respond to the needs of the immediate neighbourhood

• Department of Central Computer Centre

The Department of Central Computer Centre (CCC) is the nerve centre of campus wide network. CCC is located in the basement of Academic Block – II and consists of a laboratory for Internet Browsing and provides space for other computing facilities. Provides system administration and technical support which includes software installation, configuration of servers and desktops/laptops, network monitoring (both wired & wireless) and internet sharing etc.

Well equipped with backend equipment’s which includes servers (IBMX 3100 and Dell PowerEdge Tower Servers), bulk data storage unit (Netgear NAS Storage NAS3312 and NAS3318).

The entire campus is vigilances through 251 high definition CCTV cameras via the campus network links and it uses bulk data storage unit to store the footages of the cameras.

• Hostel

Separate hostel for both Boys and Girls available. Hence, provide a good environment for their studies in a healthy and caring atmosphere.

• Transport facility

A fleet of eight buses plies on Puttur, Surathkal, Moodbidri, and Mangalore city routes in the morning and evening. Around 350 students from various parts of the region use these bus services for conveyance to and from the College

• Canteen

Wholesome, hygienic and tasty food at reasonable prices. The canteen at St Joseph Engineering College, known for its student friendly environment. Thus, provides a wide variety of delicacies to cater the tastes of each individual. There are separate sections for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. At a time, nearly 250 students  can accommodates.

• Stationery, photocopy

Stationery, photocopy and STD facility is provided within the campus for the benefit of both students and staff.

• Dispensary

Well-equipped Dispensary to the medical needs of  both students and staff. A Campus Doctor is also available round the Clock and resides in the Campus. The Dispensary houses a Consultation Room, Treatment Room, and Nursing Counter. Nursing staff also available to attend all requirements of Campus inmates.

All hospitalization cases refers to Father Muller Medical College and Hospital, a Sister Concern of the College.

• Sports club

SJEC with a strong focus on inculcating healthy lifestyle, sportsmanship spirit, conduct regular inter-class competitions, on various sports and games. Students also performed in various University / National Level meets .

• Library

Central Library of SJEC is a “Gateway to Discover, Explore and Learn”. The Library offers state-of-the art facilities and innovative services to its stakeholders.  And also provides seamless access to scholarly resources . Library provides very conducive environment for study, reading, innovative research and collaborative activities . The Library frequently promotes its resources by conducting library orientations.
