Leelavathi Shetty College of education affiliated to Mangalore University, easily accessible and well equipped with excellent infrastructure and dedicated faculty to fulfil the aim of the Trust, to provide innovative and progressive training to teachers by advancing and enhancing their quality as educators/ trainers facilitators. It undertakes the training of new entrants as well as in-service teachers wishing to better their qualifications.

Course

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Programme is a two year programme in the field of Teacher Education. This is a professional programme that prepares teachers for upper primary, secondary level and higher secondary level.

Eligibility:

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Ed. programme should be as prescribed by NCTE, UGC, State Government and Mangalore University. Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in Bachelor‘s Degree and/or the Master‘s Degree in Science/Social Science/Commerce/Humanity, Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics or any other qualification equivalent thereto are eligible for admission to the programme and 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/371(J) and any other categories/type shall be as per the rules of the Central   Government/State Government whichever is applicable Intake

The basic unit size for the programme shall be 50.

Internship and immersion

It is the period of 50 days where in the candidate visits the teacher education institute, schools, or any Educational Institute and for the full day regularly and undertake the defined activities under the supervision of the guide the activity will end in the recorded form.

Facility

Hostel

Separate hostels are provided for boys and girls. Hostel is compulsory for girls till the completion of their course. Hostel is compulsory for boys in the first year. Altogether there are five hostels maintained by the Trust.
The hostel inmates are provided with breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner. The Trust takes care to serve the students with hygienic food and to keep the kitchen and the dining halls clean and tidy. The concept of the Trust regarding the hostel is to make the student feel a home away from home.

Transportation

Dr. M.V.Shetty Memorial Trust maintains a fleet of vehicles including several buses to transport students to their respective study centers and to their respective hostels. The transport facility is also provided to students  for Clinicals, University related works, fests for sports and cultural competitions held in different colleges.

Sports and Games

The college managed by Dr.M.V.Shetty Memorial trust has a physical education department managed by the director of physical education. The student of the college regularly participate in inter – collegiate tournaments in various sports and games events both within the university area and outside the university. The physical Education Department of the College regularly organizes Inter Collegiate competitions in various sports events and Inter College Tournaments in games events generally in the month of January every year.

Library

The college Library is spacious and is open to the students and staff of the college, who have library membership cards. The college has four libraries equipped with about 14000 volumes of books related to the subjects, 40 National and International journals and E-Journal, 1100 back volumes of the journals and nearly 1400 thesis are available in the Library.
