Father Muller Homeopathic College is unit of the pioneering Father Muller Charitable Institutions, (FMCI) founded by Rev Fr Augustus Muller, a German Jesuit missionary. Fr Muller was the grandson of Mr. Augustus Muller who was the school teacher of Dr Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy. No wonder Fr Muller fell in love with Homoeopathy and popularized it in Mangalore and other parts of the country. Father Muller Charitable Institutions had its humble beginning in the Kankanady Hill as a small dispensary in 1880, called the Homoeopathic Poor Dispensary. Father Muller was the first Indian Repertorian and also has authored many Homoeopathic books.

In the year 1980, FMCI celebrated its centenary and to commemorate this event a decision  taken to institute a Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital at Kankanady. The College  established in 1985 which soon grew into a leading institution to provide Homoeopathic Medical Education.  Affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and recognized by Central Council of Homoeopathy, New Delhi .The PG courses  started with 3 basic subjects in 1998 namely Organon of Medicine, Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Repertory and enhanced with 4 specialty subjects in 2007 namely, Practice of Medicine, Paediatrics, Homoeopathic Pharmacy & Psychiatry.

Facilities

 

 

Library

 

The college has a well organized library, under the supervision of qualified librarian and sufficient staff. E-books and e-journals are available at HELINET consortium of Digital Library at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. Almost all Homoeopathic journals published in India and England subscribed. Bound volumes of the back editions of many of these journals are available. Besides, there are separate libraries in all the departments.

A small library with essential text books  made available in the college hostels for the benefit of the inmates. In the P.G Block a separate library as well as study room  made available with necessary reference materials.

 

 

Lecture Halls

 

The Homoeopathic Medical College has an Hospital attached with facilities for admitting 52 patients 25 for UG and 27 for PG.

The college possesses of State-of-the-art 7 lecture halls accommodating 125 students that  equipped with LCD, OHP and public address system and ICT facilities.

 

 

Hostel

 

Accommodation and mess facilities are provided at reasonable rates. Adequate outdoor and indoor sports facilities are available for the recreation of the students.

Hostels also have a Prayer hall, Library, Reading room, Gymnasium, Visitors room and a T.V. Room for the inmates. The inmates  looked after with love and care inculcating good values making the hostels truely “Home Away From Home”
