About The College

Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute

The Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute boasts a rich history as one of Karnataka’s premier medical institutions. It wasn’t always a government institution though. Remarkably, it began as a private endeavor by the Mysore Education Society, spearheaded by visionary doctors like Dr. R. Shivaram, Dr. Mekhri, Dr. B.K. Narayana Rao, and Dr. B.V. Ramaswamy. Their dedication to medical education paved the way for a renowned institute.

A Journey Through Affiliations:

The initial years saw BMCRI affiliated with Mysore University, reflecting the influence of the Mysore Education Society. Later, with the establishment of Bangalore University, the affiliation shifted accordingly. Since 1996, BMCRI has been under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, a specialized university focused on healthcare education and research.

Beyond Affiliation: A Hub of Excellence

BMCRI’s significance transcends its affiliations. It has consistently strived for excellence, evolving into a respected government medical college. Today, it stands as a cornerstone of Karnataka’s medical landscape, producing skilled medical professionals and fostering cutting-edge research.
