Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies

 

 

Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies (BLS) began its journey in 1993, marking a significant year for legal education in Bangalore. This year also held special importance for BHS HES, as it coincided with their Golden Jubilee celebration.

The inauguration ceremony of BLS was a grand affair, graced by the presence of eminent dignitaries. The chief guest, Shri. B.V. Acharya, held the esteemed position of Advocate General for the Government of Karnataka at the time. Dr. V.B. Coutinho, the then Dean and Principal of University Law College, Bangalore, added further weight to the occasion by presiding over the function.

The establishment of BLS marked the beginning of an era of quality legal education under the leadership of its first principal, Shri. G.Y. Subba Rao. Following his tenure, Prof. Anand Rao from the Department of English stepped in to serve as the acting Principal for a brief period, ensuring a smooth transition.

 

 

 

Facilities

 

Infrastructure

 

Housed within the campus, the state-of-art infrastructure,  it boasts about its adequate facilities, in terms of maintenance, furniture, reading facility, library, moot court hall, research lab and so on.

Research Lab

 

Research Lab has desktops with Manuputra installed which enables the students for their projects, moot courts and other academic works.

Library

 

The BILS Library houses about 7000 volumes of various books with different sections like textbook section, journal section and magazine section.

Moot Court Hall

 

The college has a well-equipped Moot Court Hall to maintain the professional ambiance when practical training imparted to the students.

Legal Aid Cell

 

Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies’ students have been visiting villages every year in and around Bangalore to provide Legal aid to the needy.

Girls Dormitory

 

Housed within the campus, it boasts about its adequate facilities, in terms of maintenance, furniture, reading facility

In-house Canteen

 

hygienic cooking which includes both North Indian & South Indian cuisine to cater many of our students from North, East & Central India.

 

Life Beyond the Classroom

 

The students are offered on-going opportunities to participate in curricular, co-curricular & extra-curricular activities

We have several writers who encouraged to come up with creations that  regularly published in our in-house magazines.

 

Placements

 

 

Internships provide the platform for the students to explore their interests and make career choices. The top recruiting companies like Wipro, Infosys, Baja Allianz, Mecon Limited often visit the college. Each registered student shall have completed minimum of 20 weeks of internship during the entire period of legal studies .
