Dr MV Shetty College of Nursing Mangalore

 

 

Dr MV Shetty College of Nursing Mangalore established in the year 1987 is the first nursing institute to be started under private sector in the state of Karnataka offering programmes in nursing science aiming to produce qualified nursing professionals who;possess high professional qualifications and have intensive clinical training ,show maturity along with professional updating and social accountability .Enabled to develop leadership skills combined with ethical practices. Well informed in health care informatics and management .Can function independently and as a part of patient care in coordinated teams.Can work well in co-operation with national and international health care units. Perform effectively in areas of Nursing service, Nursing education, Nursing administration and Nursing research.

 

 

 

Courses

 

The different courses in Nursing sciences are B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) started during the academic year 1987-88, the B.Sc Nursing (Post Certificate) started during the academic year 1989-90 and the M.Sc. Nursing started during the academic year 1992-93. All these courses  initially affiliated to Mangalore University and subsequently during the academic year 1996-97 and transferred to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
Recognized by Karnataka Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

 

 

BSC Nursing

 

Dr MV Shetty College of Nursing Mangalore Bsc Nursing extend over a period of 4 academic years from the date of commencement of his/ her study of the subjects comprising the nursing curriculum to the date of completion of examination. Terms and vacations shall be as notified by the university from time to time.

 

Admission Criteria :

 

1.The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
2.The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of :

Higher Secondary school certificate Examination (12 years course).

or

Senior School certificate Examination (10+2). Pre-degree Examination (10+2)

or

An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with science( Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum of 50% aggregate marks (PCBE).

3. Candidate Shall be Medically Fit.

 

 

Post Basics BSC Nursing

 

Dr MV Shetty College of Nursing Mangalore Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (PB B.Sc Nursing) is a two-year undergraduate nursing program designed for registered nurses who want to upgrade their qualifications and knowledge. The program covers a wide range of topics in nursing, including advanced nursing practice, research, and management.

 

Admission Criteria

 

1.The candidate must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) subjects.

2.The candidate must be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (RNRM) with a State Nursing Registration Council.

3.The candidate must have completed a three-year diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with a minimum of 50% marks.

4.Also require the candidate to have a minimum of two years of work experience as a nurse after registration.

 

 

Msc Nursing

 

Dr MV Shetty College of Nursing Mangalore Master of Science in Nursing (MSc Nursing) is a postgraduate degree program in nursing that typically lasts for two years. Designed to provide nurses with advanced knowledge and skills in a specialized area of nursing practice. If you are a nurse who is interested in pursuing an advanced degree, an MSc Nursing degree is a great option. The program will give you the knowledge and skills you need to make a difference in the healthcare field.

 

Admission Criteria :

 

1.The candidate must have passed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks.

2. Also require the candidate to have a minimum of one year of work experience as a nurse after registration.

 

 

 

Facilities

 

 

Hostels

 

Separate hostels are provided for both.Hostel  compulsory for girls till the completion of their course. Hostel is compulsory for boys during first year.
The hostel inmates are also provided with breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner. The Trust takes care to serve the students with hygienic food and to keep the kitchen and the dining halls clean and tidy. The concept of the Trust regarding the hostel is to make the student feel a home away from home.

 

Transportation Facility

 

Dr. M.V.Shetty Memorial Trust maintains a fleet of vehicles including several buses to transport students to both study centers and to respective hostels. The transport facility is also provided to students  for Clinicals, University related works, fests for sports and cultural competitions held in different colleges.

 

Sports and Games Facility

 

The college managed by Dr.M.V.Shetty Memorial trust has a physical education department managed by the director of physical education. The student of the college regularly participate in inter – collegiate tournaments in various sports and games events both within the university area and outside the university. The physical Education Department of the College regularly organizes Inter Collegiate competitions in various sports events and Inter College Tournaments in games events generally in the month of January every year.

 

Library

 

The college Library is spacious and open to both students and staff of the college, who have library membership cards. The college has four libraries equipped with about 14000 volumes of books related to the subjects, 40 National and International journals and E-Journal etc.

 

Canteen

 

Spacious Canteen facility for both staff and students of the colleges and run by an experienced Caterer of repute. The Canteen also have a modern kitchen equipped with facilities for hygienic food preparation.
Vegetarian and non vegetarian foods, soft drinks, ice creams and snacks are also provided in the canteen at nominal cost. Both North Indian and South Indian dishes are also provided in the Canteen for the choice of students

 

Computer Centre

 

The Computer Center started in the year 1994 at the College Campus, thus  impart training programme on basic knowledge .

 

ATM Facility

 

The ATM of the Corporation Bank  in the premises of the building .  Availed by both student and staff of the colleges .
