About The Course
B.Sc. Biochemistry or Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry is an undergraduate Biochemistry course. Biochemistry is a study of chemical processes in living organisms. It includes the study of Bio-organic Chemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, Human Physiology, Microbiology and Virology, Basic Immunology, Enzymology, etc. B.Sc. (Biochemistry) degree course also includes the study of structure and function of cellular components such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids and other bio-molecules involved in biological processes such as growth, metabolism, reproduction, heredity, etc. as well as the effect of the environment on living organisms. In other words, B.Sc. Biochemistry course covers studies of the minutest characteristics of organisms, and their biological processes. The duration of the course is three years and the syllabus is divided into six semesters. The course is an important and career originating one that opens many bright job prospects for them.
More Details About BSc Biochemistry
- The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing B.Sc. (Biochemistry) degree is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination in Science stream with a minimum of 50% marks secured from a recognized board of the country.
- Also, some reputed colleges and institutes do conduct entrance examination to get admission to their B.Sc. (Biochemistry) degree course. Selection to the degree course in these colleges is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e. total marks aggregated in the final exams of 10+2 and the entrance exam.
- Candidates those who have the ability to understand complex biological processes, having a full and critical understanding of relevant texts, assembling arguments and engaging in debate, critical and analytical skills, independent thinking and problem-solving are the most suit for it.
