Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (NGSMIPS) established in 1983, is recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India and the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. The college is ranked 45th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021 by MHRD, GoI.

The Institution has made rapid progress towards being recognized as a Pharmacy school with high academic standards, delivering quality health care with an emphasis on promoting social responsibility in its students. In alignment with the vision and mission of Nitte University, NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences strives to generate competent and humane professionals empowered to face future challenges with ethical integrity.

NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, a constituent college of Nitte (Deemed to be University), engaged in imparting education in pharmaceutical sciences has adopted this quality policy to achieve its vision.

The college shall ensure that the best teaching – learning including most modern laboratory facilities are provided. The focus shall be on creating competent, skilled man power to face the scientific and social challenges with a high degree of credibility, integrity, ethical standards and social concern.

Qualified, experienced faculty shall be appointed and sustained. An environment for quality research shall be created for the faculty to pursue the new horizons of knowledge.

In addition to curricular excellence, the students shall be trained in soft skills such as communication skill, leadership skill, time management; inculcate human values and professional ethics.

The institute shall adopt technology in teaching, training & evaluations of students and staff. Effective and optimal management of the institutional infrastructure, human resource and social contacts ensured by adopting technology. Academic and governing policies shall be dynamic and versatile so that there shall be continuous refinement & innovation and adoption new technologies.

Library

 

The resources and services of the Library and Information Centre of NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences created to meet the specific needs of the students and faculty members. The mission of the Library is based on the dual goals of providing access to information while assuring the preservation of Library resources and collections. In achieving these goals, the Library will ensure access for all users who need information while implementing appropriate standards to provide for the preservation of library materials and resources.

The NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences has a well-stocked library with a large floor area of 3230 Sq. ft. The Library has a rich collection of. Its collections od Printed Books, Back Volumes, W.H.O Publications and CD-ROM. The Library subscribes to National and International journals in print and e-journals and is also the member of the HELINET consortium, DELNET and UpToDate: Evidence-Based Medical decision support service resource. The Library fully automated with Easylib web version software (ILMS) and computerized through Bar-coding system. Also well protected with a fire extinguisher and CCTV surveillance system

Play Ground

 

A playground would improve the atmosphere of the institute, allow for mental relief and also give students a place to hang out that has a positive, outdoor atmosphere. A playground on the campus  enjoyed by students seeking quick, convenient opportunities for some physical activity to balance their busy academic lives. The college has a spacious lush green playground, where regular sports & games such as volleyball, football and cricket etc are conducted from time to time.

Sports

 

The sports facilities in the campus consist of an athletic turf track of 400 mtrs, Football ground, Cricket pitch, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball and Badminton courts.

The campus has facilities for indoor games like Table Tennis, Chess and Carrom.

Hostels

 

Hostel fee: The hostel fee for the first year which includes the caution deposit, mess advance and the room rent collected at the time of admission. The room rent for the subsequent academic years collected at the beginning of each year along with college fee. Caution deposit refunded only at the end of the course. Establishment charges and other utilities like electricity and water also collected.

Allotment of rooms: Rooms allotted to the students at the time of their admission. The students cannot vacate the room in the middle of the academic year. Boarders also not permitted to change rooms in the middle of the academic year. In case the boarder wishes to change rooms, a written permission signed by the Head of the Institution and the Assistant Director (Student Affairs) required. If a boarder fails to pay his/her dues to the hostel by the appointed time, then he/she will forfeit the room as rooms allotted on payment only.

Mess: The mess advance collected, adjusted against the monthly mess charges The vegetarian mess  run on a cost sharing basis. Based on the suggestions of the boarders, the mess committee decide upon the menu. catering not permitted. Hostellers can pre-book their favorite non-vegetarian dishes apart from their regular vegetarian menu through the “Paaka-shale” app.

Facilities: The hostellers  provided with a cot, cupboard, study table and chair. Every hostel -solar water heaters, WiFi facility, common telephone, TV room, reading room, visitors lounge, water coolers, generators, 24×7 security and surveillance cameras. AC rooms also available in some of the hostels. The hostels also have facilities for indoor and outdoor games.

Student support service

 

Student Mentoring and Counselling

 

A group of 5 to 10 students assigned to a teacher . Orientation programs for fresh entrants, training in leadership, public speaking, effective communication, facing interviews conducted regularly. Student support programs such as student welfare cell, placement & guidance cell and women’s wing address the academic and psychological needs of the students.

Counseling for Women Students

 

Women students can also avail counselling and guidance from the Women’s Cell. Women Counsellors are available in the Students’ Wellness Centre. The Women’s cell conducts sensitization programs for women students and staff regarding their rights, opportunities, redressal avenues

Prevention of Ragging

 

NitteDU has a zero-tolerance policy on ragging and any other form student bullying. Every student and his/her parent/guardian required submit an affidavit confirming compliance to the UGC Regulations . The University has an Anti-Ragging Committee chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary. Each of the Constituent Colleges have Institutional Anti-Ragging Committees headed by the respective Deans / Principals.

Prevention of Sexual Harassment

 

Nitte committed to creating and maintaining a community in which students, teachers and non-teaching staff can work together . This includes all forms of gender violence, sexual harassment and discrimination based on sex/gender or amongst the same sex members. Every member of the NU should be aware that while the NU committed to the right to freedom of expression and association, it strongly supports gender equality and opposes any form of gender discrimination and violence.

 

Placement

 


A vibrant and dedicated Placement Cell an integral part of any institution engaged in higher education. It stands as a bridge between the Institution and the Prospective employer – The Industry. While it is quite obvious that the Employers expect graduates to possess technical competencies in their subject of study they also seriously evaluate graduates in terms of discipline and require them to demonstrate a range of broader skills and attributes that include excellent team-work, effective communication, leadership, critical thinking, problem solving and managerial abilities.

Employability is not just about getting a job. It is about learning and the emphasis is less on ’employ’ and more on ‘ability.
