About The College

Nitte Education Trust through its constituent institution, Sarosh Institute of Hotel Administration (SIHA) has been providing quality hotel management education, since 1992. Our alumni who hold key positions as Director – Sales & Marketing, Director – Operations, F&B Managers, Restaurateurs, Inflight Managers, Concierge Managers, Catering & Logistics Officers, Chefs, Professors, Training & Placement Officers etc., are testimony of the personal & professional skills and industry-oriented competencies they were groomed in, at the institution.

In recent years, prospects for students of the traditional hotel management training programs have expanded. There is a realization that the competencies of hospitality, services management, interpersonal skills and communication skills are relevant for careers beyond the traditional “hotel management” sphere. The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the hospitality industry and therefore there is a need for revisiting and restructuring educational programs for training hospitality professionals. Further, the new National Education Policy of 2020 emphasises the need for a more holistic, industry relevant training.

Keeping these developments in mind, the Bachelors in Hotel Management (BHM) program being offered at SIHA is being replaced by a new four-year BSc (Honors) in Hospitality Management program at the newly established Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services (NIHS) under Nitte (Deemed to be University). This program with an innovative curriculum will offer training in skills relevant for a broader range of hospitality services with greater academic flexibility for students.

TRAINING LABS

  • Basic Training Kitchen is equipped with adequate equipment to teach the basics of Culinary Arts to the students of 1st and 2nd semester
  • Advanced Training Kitchen to train students of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th semesters in cuisines from around the globe
  • Quantity Training Kitchen adjoins the Dining Hall, where students learn to cook meals in large quantities and prepare food for regular events conducted at the institute
  • Bakery & Confectionery Lab where necessary baking / confectionery skills are provided to the students by means of hands-on experience
  • F & B Service Training Restaurant is a section of the F & B Service Department and is used to train students in extensive aspects of Food & Beverage Service
  • Language Labs provide students with the required knowledge of spoken English with the help of an interactive software
  • Housekeeping Department is equipped with a Training Lab and a Working Laundry, where students are trained in maintaining appropriate housekeeping standards required in the hospitality industry. Laundry facility is also available for students/faculty, where the uniforms and other college linen are laundered
  • Front Office Pilot is where students specialize in customer handling, communication skills, hospitality service, guest reservation and registration procedures
  • Mock Guest Rooms are available for learning, where students are trained in housekeeping practices/activities of a hotel
  • Computer Lab is equipped with an updated Property Management System (PMS), IDS Next, with features like contactless front-desk, guest requests, F&B Service, front and back office hotel operations to teach students the basics of computer operations that is needed in the industry and provides LAN, Wi-Fi and internet
