CMR School of Architecture, one of the youngest schools in Karnataka, started in the year 2015. The School aims to create professionals who are socially and ecologically sensitive and will proactively address the needs of the contemporary and future built environment.

The school focuses on promoting collaborative learning, through an elaborate curriculum in a highly interactive teaching-learning environment. Through the tools of maker-centered learning, the School helps students reflect upon their intentions, choices, and actions. The legacy of the CMR Group in the field of education also compliments this unique learning journey at the School of Architecture.

 

Facilities

 


 

Hostel

 

New boys and girls hostel accommodation is currently available off-campus in the vibrant and cosmopolitan area of Banaswadi. Bus facility is made available for students to commute to the main University campus. The hostels feature high-speed wired internet access and dining facility. The hostels are located in heart of Banaswadi. The adjoining CMR Road offers students access to a wide range of dining and entertainment options. Single and double room accommodations are available on first come first served basis.

 

Library

 

Library is a Knowledge Centre which has rich resources. The CMR University Library established under CMR University Act, an act established and incorporated in the state of Karnataka came into existence in the year 2014. The library equipped with the best books, magazines, periodicals and journals. The Library holds a hybrid collection of printed as well as electronic resources which include books, journals, e-books, e-journals, question banks, bound volumes, project reports, case studies, conference proceedings, training manuals, etc.

 

Computer Lab

 

The computer laboratory covers an approximate area of 80 sqm, and is adequate to meet the students’ needs. All systems are equipped with AUTODESK authorized software. Other software’s in the Lab include Rhinoceros and Adobe. Students primarily make use of the lab to enhance their visualization skills through project work.

 

Workshop

 

The workshop along with the studio forms the core learning methodology of the school of architecture. The workshop covers a 150 sqm area, and provides tools for hands-on exploration with wood, metal, paper, clay, Plaster of Paris etc. the School of Architecture is also part of the MakerSpace network where regular workshops, trainings, talks and meet-ups happen with the Maker community. The MakerSpace and its approach to design, imparts an identity to each project that a student is involved with. In the process, the student will start perceiving and understanding the definition of materiality.This is a unique platform facilitating inter and multi disciplinary learning. The MakerSpace is equipped with 3D printers, Laser cutter, CNC Router along with tools for working in Wood, Metal, Electronics etc.

 

Exhibition Hall

 

The exhibition hall is equipped with adequate display systems to showcase students’ work. The hall houses both permanent and temporary exhibits of some of the students best works. The exhibits are in the forms of drawings, sketches, models, installations etc

 

Material Museum

 

Used to display various types of building materials and fixtures in order to acquaint students with various products currently available in the market. The materials include floor finishes, walling, roofing, Electrical, sanitary and plumbing, lighting fixtures and acoustical products etc

 

Visual Arts Room

 

The Visual Arts Room is where students explore fine arts in the form of paintings, free hand sketches, sculpture etc. Well equipped with professional quality drawing equipment like Easels, side tables etc. The school of architecture coordinated the 2nd CMR National Art Camp in November 2015 and 3rd CMR National Art Camp in November 2018 where 25 artists from across the country participate in a weeklong art camp to create paintings, woodcut prints and sculpture for the CMR art repository.

 

Sports

 

The Physical Education Department fosters this vision by training the students in various sports activities.

The objective, here, is to build competitive teams in various sports like Cricket, Football, Hockey, BasketBall, Throw Ball, Shuttle Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Swimming, Athletics, Gymnastics and others. In this regard, CMR University extends full support to sportsmen/sportswomen to help them to achieve their sporting ambitions.

 

Placement

 


 

Provide numerous opportunities for students to ensure all-round development. As a part
of this, the students  trained, groomed, and chiselled to become the best with respect to
management and leadership.
The placement cell coordinates with the corporate sector in order to provide adequate
infrastructure to facilitate the campus selection programme. Reputed companies and corporate
houses visit the University and organize campus recruitment drives. The cell maintains a cordial
relationship with all recruiting agencies looking at CMR University as a resourceful talent pool
